Preschool teachers enter new school year

On the Nam Muoi mountainside (Son Luong commune), the weather is sometimes hot, sometimes light rain, the teachers of Nam Muoi Kindergarten have returned to school since August 1.

Putting aside the summer vacation, Ms. Lo Thi Thu Hien - Principal of the school, along with 23 cadres, teachers and staff of the school, busily started cleaning, repairing facilities, planting flowers, renovating classrooms, painting outdoor toys, and then dividing up to go to villages to conduct universal surveys... with enthusiasm and passion.

Nam Muoi Kindergarten has 1 main campus and 4 satellite campuses. Many teachers are quite young in age and experience, but they are still dedicated to the school, the class, and the children in the highlands. Many teachers travel nearly 100 km every day to get to class on time and only leave when they have dropped off all the children. Perhaps the love for the profession and children of preschool teachers, especially those who teach in highlands and ethnic minority areas... is immeasurable.

At Binh Minh Kindergarten, Phinh Ho Commune, to prepare all conditions for the new school year, from the end of July to the beginning of August, all 16 staff and teachers of the school were present. They were assigned to decorate classrooms, renovate the playground, and go to villages to conduct surveys and popularize education, encourage parents to bring their children to class, and then clean and sanitize the living areas...

Teacher Ha Thi Thanh had just traveled more than 20 km of steep mountain passes from Hang Day school back to the main school, her face already tired, she announced the good news to her colleagues: "Parents and children in Hang Day miss their teacher so much, they want to go to school. The classrooms at the Hang Day satellite school are still in good condition, we have cleaned them, we are just waiting for the children to come to class."

Hearing teacher Thanh report, the school leaders were very happy. So 205 students, all of whom are children of the Mong ethnic group, will go to school and graduate. The new school year will be successful thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of the teachers. I can confirm that because among the teachers working at Binh Minh Kindergarten, many of them live dozens or hundreds of kilometers away from the school; especially teacher Hoang Thi Bang, who lives in Hai Phong city, has been attached to this school for 12 years.

From July 2025, implementing the two-level local government, Ban Xeo commune was established on the basis of merging Ban Xeo, Pa Cheo and Muong Vi communes (belonging to Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province). Po Si Ngai village kindergarten, Ban Xeo kindergarten formerly belonging to Pa Cheo commune, is located on a high mountain range. With the attention of the Party and the State, the road has been concreted, however, the road hanging on the mountain is still extremely difficult with steep slopes and hairpin turns.

To bring literacy closer to the children, 6 teachers from Ban Xeo Kindergarten were assigned to “follow” the school. Following the regulations, the teachers were present at the school from August 1 and immediately started preparing for the new school year.

In addition to visiting families in the village to propagate and encourage parents to send their children to class, teachers also met with the village to discuss and deploy to parents to join hands to beautify the school landscape. With the support of the village and parents, on this occasion, every morning the school yard was bustling with laughter. Teachers and parents of the school went to the forest to get materials to split bamboo, weave fences around the school, then clear the school garden, plant more flowers, ornamental plants, etc.

Mr. Sung A Chung, whose children are studying at the school, is busy splitting bamboo to weave fences. He happily said: “The children are too young to know how to work and clean the school. There are few teachers at the school, while there is a lot of cleaning work at the beginning of the year, so I and other parents all agree to go to the school to work and take care of the children's school. The school is cleaned, beautiful, safe, and convenient for the children to study. Parents can also work with peace of mind and increase production.”

Like Po Si Ngai school, 3 other satellite schools and the main school of Ban Xeo Kindergarten are also actively preparing for the first day of school for students and the opening day of the new school year.

Teacher Xin Thi Viet, Principal of Ban Xeo Kindergarten, said: “In the 2025-2026 school year, the school is expected to have 160 children attending. Since the beginning of August, we have assigned specific tasks to each teacher. The school is always determined to do its best for the goal of building a friendly school, so that every day at school for the children is a happy and rewarding day.”

The new school year for preschool teachers comes earlier than other levels and fields of study. The teaching staff also has a harder time, always leaving early and returning late when the children seem to have to both raise and teach.

According to statistics from the provincial Department of Education and Training, in the 2025-2026 school year, there will be 370 preschools, including 14 private schools, the rest are public schools, not to mention independent nursery groups. In recent years, with the attention and investment of the State, the facilities of the preschool system in the province have basically been guaranteed. In the mountainous areas, many schools have invested in building public housing for staff and teachers; in terms of staff, more than 8,000 preschool teachers in the province have been standardized, with college degrees or higher.
