Director of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center in Ninh Thuan received 54 months in prison

The People's Court sentenced defendant Le Tu Tri (51 years old) to 54 months in prison for "Accepting bribes".

For the act of “Giving bribes”, the defendants including: Nguyen Van Tuan Dan (52 years old), Duong Van Minh (47 years old), Pham Van Thanh (51 years old), Le Duc Dung (44 years old) and Truong Minh Nam (35 years old) were sentenced from 6 months to 36 months in prison.

According to the indictment, from December 2021, defendant Le Tu Tri was appointed as Director of the Motor Vehicle Inspection Center 85-02D located on National Highway 1A in Van Lam 3 village, Phuoc Minh commune.

Defendant Tri agreed to receive 186 million VND from 5 vehicle owners to change the technical specifications, increase the height and load capacity of 27 vehicles without preparing the modification records according to regulations. Of these, 16 vehicles had been successfully inspected, 11 vehicles had not been inspected due to being discovered by the specialized inspection team.

Specifically, defendant Le Tu Tri received 124 million VND from Nguyen Van Tuan Dan to raise the cargo bed of 18 vehicles; received 30 million VND from Duong Van Minh to raise the load capacity of 5 vehicles; received 22 million VND from Pham Van Thanh to raise the height of the cargo bed of 2 vehicles; received 7 million VND from Le Duc Dung to raise the height of the cargo bed of 1 vehicle and received 3 million VND from Truong Minh Nam to raise the height of the cargo bed of 1 vehicle.
