According to VnEconomy, Israel's attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has made global investors more cautious about highly cyclical commodities such as pepper. Korf Food Products BV (Netherlands) said that in addition to political instability, pepper prices are currently under pressure from exchange rate fluctuations and unstable logistics costs.
However, positive signals are emerging in the medium and long term. A trade agreement between Vietnam and the US expected to be signed in July 2025 is expected to expand market share and increase value for the Vietnamese pepper industry.
However, a new concern comes from the US's plan to impose reciprocal tariffs on July 9, which could cause the price of Vietnamese pepper exported to the US to increase sharply, affecting competitiveness and the global supply chain.
In this context, producers and traders are forced to adjust their purchasing and distribution strategies. The International Pepper Community (IPC) commented that although pepper prices are slightly adjusting, the market has not lost its recovery momentum. Limited supply, stable consumption demand and expectations of new trade agreements are reinforcing the upward trend in the coming years.
