Urgent warning from the Organizing Committee of the race 'That's my Vietnam'
With just one search on Facebook, 4 fanpages with the same name "My Vietnam Run" appeared, the avatars were identical, even the images and posts on these pages were identical.
Fake fanpages are everywhere among the official fanpages.
Normally, when seeing a fanpage with the most likes and followers, users will think that it is the original page, the official page of BTC. But no, this fanpage with 11 thousand followers, even has a blue tick from Facebook, is fake. Meanwhile, the official fanpage of BTC, because it was newly established, only has 3.8 thousand followers.
This is the official fanpage (3,800 followers) with a pinned warning post at the top of the page. The organizer also has only one address: ZAHA VIETNAM JOINT STOCK COMPANY - tax code: 0110699415. Address: No. 124, Lane 11 Thuy Khue, Thuy Khue Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi City. Representative: Mr. Tran Luu Ngoc Anh, Company Director
Recently, the Organizing Committee of the "Vietnam I Am" race posted an urgent warning about these fake fanpages. Accordingly, these fanpages use strange domain names and do not publicize official registration links. Instead, the fake fanpages ask users to text or transfer money to reserve a spot. One trick the scammers use is to ask users to do tasks or play mini games to get discount "vouchers" and then post congratulatory messages to the winners to gain trust.
Under the posts of the fake fanpage, many Facebook users also left comments about their desire to be guided to register to participate. However, this could be a "decoy" of the scam group itself to increase interaction and create a fake cover of reputation.
Fake page (with 11,000 followers and blue ticks) posts pictures and articles copied from the official page
The organizers also recommend that everyone not click on suspicious links, provide personal information or make any transactions through these fake fanpages. To register for the "Vietnam I Do" race, participants should only use the official channels that have been announced, including the official website and reputable registration partners.
BTC also calls on users to report fake pages to Facebook.
The official website has the official bib sales link of the race: https://hn.legacymarathon.com/ha-noi-2025
Official fanpage of the tournament: https://www.facebook.com/vietnamtoidorace
The My Vietnam 2025 race will take place on August 24 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center and Vinhomes Global Gate, Hanoi, with the participation of more than 20,000 runners. This is not only a marathon but also an opportunity to explore the Co Loa relic, which preserves many historical and cultural stories of ancient Vietnamese people.
The race is expected to promote Co Loa as an attractive tourist destination and honor the national spirit. Notably, the tournament has the participation of record holder Do Quoc Luat.
Lots of fanpages scamming sports tournaments and courses
Organizing sports tournaments and courses of hot sports are gradually becoming popular in Vietnam. The community of people who love community sports is also growing and from here, the form of fraud that targets the needs of sports lovers is also born to appropriate assets, personal information and even contributions from participants. Fraudulent groups often create fanpages with names and forms identical to reputable sports events, in order to deceive those who intend to participate.
A fake page of the 2024 Thanh Nien Pickleball Tournament - VINFAST Cup
Thanh Nien Newspaper has repeatedly spoken out and reflected on this situation, emphasizing that participants need to be extremely careful and only register through official and reputable channels. Fanpages of unknown origin or those that ask for personal information in an ambiguous manner should be avoided, as these are signs of potential fraud.
