On the afternoon of June 14, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Hoang Anh Gia Lai received an emergency obstetrician NT (36 years old, residing in Hoi Thuong Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai) in a state of severe abdominal pain, pale skin, and dizziness. Through examination and urgent ultrasound, the doctors determined that the patient had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, severe abdominal bleeding - a direct threat to her life if not operated on immediately.
Thank you letter from the patient's family to the hospital's medical staff. |
It is known that Ms. NT already has three children and is planning to have them. Three days before being admitted to the hospital, she had symptoms of abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding but mistook it for her menstrual period so she did not go to the doctor. It was only when she was writhing in pain, dizzy and exhausted that her family took her to the emergency room in critical condition.
Upon admission, the Obstetrics Department team promptly performed an emergency laparoscopic surgery to treat the ruptured ectopic pregnancy and stop the bleeding. After more than 3 tense hours in the operating room, the surgery was successful, helping the patient overcome the critical condition. By the afternoon of June 19, the patient was discharged from the hospital in stable health condition.
Before being discharged from the hospital, Ms. NT was moved to send the team a handwritten thank you letter with sincere words.
The trust of patients and their families is a great source of encouragement for the hospital's medical staff.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital recommends that women of reproductive age who have abnormal symptoms such as abdominal pain or unexplained vaginal bleeding should seek medical attention early to rule out the risk of ectopic pregnancy - a dangerous condition that can be fatal if detected late.
