According to ACV, from the beginning of May 2025 until now, the weather at the construction site has changed unfavorably as the rainy season arrived about a month early. Continuous and heavy rain has seriously affected the entire construction work, disrupting many items, especially underground works such as: tunnels, drainage systems, roadbeds, etc.
Prolonged rain not only causes flooding, slipperiness, and difficulty in operating machinery and equipment, but also poses many potential risks to labor safety, forcing construction units to constantly adjust their plans and construction methods to adapt to harsh weather conditions and ensure labor safety.
In addition, the mobilization of labor for the construction of Long Thanh Airport is facing many difficulties, especially unskilled labor for underground construction items such as technical tunnels and drainage culverts for the regulating lake.
Despite facing many challenges, at the current construction site, units are still maintaining progress with hundreds of construction teams deployed.
For Component Project 3 (construction of essential works in the airport), up to now, 3 packages have completed construction, 9 packages are under construction and the remaining 2 packages are about to select contractors.
With package 5.10 (construction and installation of passenger terminal equipment), the package plays the role of the critical path of the entire project. Currently, the joint venture has mobilized nearly 5,500 workers and equipment to carry out construction day and night. The station has completed the reinforced concrete structure of the underground part and 4 floors; the rough construction has reached nearly 80% and is being completed such as: painting, ceiling, installing aluminum frame glass walls in the central area and the terminal wings.
Regarding terminal equipment (baggage handling system; checked baggage screening system; aircraft parking system; escalator system, pedestrian stairs; elevator system). Recently, ACV has increased negotiations with partners supplying aviation equipment for the Long Thanh Airport passenger terminal project. The partners committed to providing all equipment in the third and fourth quarters of 2025, shortening the time by 5-8 months compared to the signed contract.
According to ACV's assessment, the progress of the bidding packages at Long Thanh Airport Project is still guaranteed, including many bidding packages that are ahead of schedule and have been completed basically, such as: connecting traffic routes, runway No. 1. For the remaining bidding packages, contractors are also speeding up the progress, ensuring the basic completion of the project by the end of 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026 as required by the Prime Minister .
