In a statement today, September 29, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser affirmed the consensus among the three countries in “breaking the cruel business of smuggling gangs that profit from the plight of people and illegally transport them across borders in ways that endanger human lives.”

According to her, that is why Germany agreed to increase joint patrols between border police and federal police on Czech and Polish territory.

For illegal intrusions, Ms. Nancy Faeser emphasized the need to detect and prevent them promptly from the beginning.

The joint task force between the three countries will be placed under the auspices of the European police agency (Europol). The aim is to act more effectively against traffickers, detect and prevent illegal border crossings.

This is Minister Faeser's latest attempt to control illegal immigration after she announced temporary controls on Germany's borders with Poland and the Czech Republic on September 27.
