The 5-star cruise ship Costa Serena carrying 3,600 international tourists and crew members from Thailand, Malaysia, Cuba and European countries has just returned to Phu Quoc for the first time after the Covid-19 pandemic.

On May 21, Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of Kien Giang Province Department of Tourism, said that the 5-star cruise ship Costa Serene (Italy) docked in the west of Phu Quoc Island at Duong Dong international port.
Ms. Le Thi Minh Thu, consultant of Thien Y Maritime Transport Services Co., Ltd., said that this shipping line had previously brought international tourists to Phu Quoc before the Covid-19 pandemic. This was the first trip of the Costa Serena ship back to Phu Quoc with 2,600 passengers and nearly 1,000 crew members.
The Costa Serena cruise itinerary took the group of tourists on a 4-night, 5-day experience departing from Thailand to Sihanoukville (Cambodia) and then to Phu Quoc (Kien Giang). In Phu Quoc, the group visited, learned about the culture and famous entertainment spots on the pearl island.

Kien Giang tourism industry and Phu Quoc city government mobilized 60 50-seat buses to support tourists to visit the island. Many tourists on the Costa Serena ship said this was their first time visiting Phu Quoc island. Most tourists commented that Phu Quoc has beautiful landscapes, hospitable and friendly locals, especially Vietnamese food has a very unique flavor, unlike anywhere else in the world .
Mr. Bui Quoc Thai assessed that the arrival of the Costa Serena in Phu Quoc showed that tourism activities are recovering. Some businesses have also submitted registrations and it is expected that Phu Quoc will welcome many more 5-star cruise ships.
