American tourists search for Da Nang, surpassing Tokyo and Bangkok

(CLO) Da Nang became the most searched destination by American tourists in January 2025 with an increase of over 1,500%, surpassing both Tokyo and Bangkok.

According to accommodation search data collected on the Agoda platform just announced on March 4, Da Nang has become the most searched city by American tourists in January 2025, surpassing Tokyo and Bangkok.

Searches from American travelers to Da Nang increased dramatically by 1,538% compared to the same period in 2024, recording the most impressive growth among top destinations.

Agoda data shows that the search trend for Da Nang has entered the top 5 cities of interest to North American travelers since July 2024 and has maintained this position continuously since then. Not only Da Nang, Vietnam in general is also becoming the most searched destination for American travelers.

According to this data, Vietnam has risen to the number 1 position on the list of most interested destinations for American tourists in 2024, up from number 4 in 2023 and surpassing Japan. The number of accommodation searches from the US to Vietnam in 2024 increased by 174% compared to the previous year.

Assessing this search trend, travel businesses believe that the effect of trips by famous guests and international rich people greatly affects the image of the destination.

According to experts, billionaire Bill Gates' trip to Da Nang in March 2024 created a positive effect on the local tourism industry. He and his girlfriend stayed at a 5-star resort on Son Tra Peninsula and visited famous places such as Ban Co Peak and Hoi An Ancient Town.

His trip affirmed Da Nang's ability to meet the demand for high-end resorts, thereby attracting more events and tourists in the high-quality segment.

These factors may have contributed to the recent increase in interest and searches by American tourists for Da Nang.

Vietnam currently aims to welcome 1.3 million American tourists by 2028, making the US one of the top three markets sending visitors to Vietnam.
