On the morning of July 24, the Da Nang Department of Health informed about the incident in which a female TikToker shared her personal experience when she went for a health check-up to apply for a job at the Hai Chau Regional Medical Center, and was unexpectedly directed to... the grocery store across the street, with an additional fee.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Mai Van Muoi, Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Health, said that the department has sent a document to medical examination and treatment facilities in the city to strengthen inspection, management, timely detection, reporting, and handling of the situation of "brokers" in medical examination and treatment.

According to the leader of the Da Nang Department of Health, "medical brokers" are people (who can be inside or outside medical facilities) who act as intermediaries, entice, and lead patients to medical examination and treatment at medical facilities according to agreements or for personal gain.

“This situation not only causes insecurity and disorder in the hospital grounds but also affects the rights, service quality and trust of people in the health sector,” the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Health affirmed.

To strengthen the management of medical examination and treatment, ensure a civilized and transparent medical examination and treatment environment, and prevent negative situations that affect the reputation of the health sector, the Da Nang Department of Health requires units to review, evaluate, and report on the current situation of whether or not there are "brokers" in medical examination and treatment, and patient brokers at the unit and the area surrounding the unit.

The leaders of the Da Nang Department of Health also requested that facilities clearly state the current situations at the unit, the forms of outsiders or unit employees colluding with outsiders (if any) to have measures to handle.

The Da Nang Department of Health also requested units to review and evaluate existing problems, limit the potential risk of "brokers" in medical examination and treatment at the unit and surrounding areas; strictly implement internal management and supervision solutions, arrange personnel to monitor and follow through the security camera system.

As Dan Tri reported, on July 23, a female TikToker shared her personal experience when going for a health check to apply for a job in Da Nang.

According to the shared content, this female TikToker went to Hai Chau Regional Medical Center for a health check to supplement her job application.

There, a staff member in protective gear said the hospital had stopped providing job application health checks and pointed to the address across the street. When crossing the street, the female TikToker only saw a grocery store and no clinic.

At this grocery store, a woman asked for information about her height, weight, and myopia, then arbitrarily “edited” the data to make her profile look good. This person also collected 300,000 VND to take care of the procedures and took her to a private clinic about 400m away.

When she learned that she was charged 300,000 VND, the female TikToker knew that she had been "charged" 200,000 VND, so she went back to the woman at the grocery store to ask for 100,000 VND back.

When the female TikToker asked for a refund, the woman at the grocery store said: “I do this service to make it quick for you. I will only give you 50,000 VND back. Because I have to pay for this for many people…”
