Phung Hiep Canal is over 100 km long, connecting Ca Mau to Nga Bay, Can Tho City, passing through the following places: Gia Rai, Phuoc Long, Hong Dan, to Nga Nam and then up to Nga Bay.

In Ca Mau, Phung Hiep canal is the intersection of three rivers, commonly called Chua Ba junction by local people, including: Ong Doc river, Ganh Hao river and Bac Lieu canal.

To the Giong Bom five-way intersection, Dau Sau three-way intersection, Chu Chi four-way intersection, Pho Sinh three-way intersection, Ninh Quoi four-way intersection in Ca Mau province. From Ninh Quoi, run up to Nga Nam intersection with four more intersections: Vinh Quoi, Long My, Thanh Tri and Phung Hiep, in Can Tho city and the unique final convergence point of the Mekong Delta by 7 river branches: Cai Con, Mang Ca, Bun Tau, Lai Hieu, Xeo Mon, Xeo Dong and Kenh Xang.

Phung Hiep Canal is a vital river that not only provides water for rice fields, shrimp farms, and fruit gardens, but is also a place for trading goods for the entire Ca Mau Peninsula. Every year, hundreds of thousands of tons of goods from Ca Mau are transported in all directions.

Also on this river, in the past, there were many unique cultural features, such as: Nga Bay floating market, Nga Nam floating market, Ca Mau floating market... which were very unique places for exchanging and buying and selling goods of the people in the river region of the Southwest and used to be visited by many tourists.

Nga Nam is located in Can Tho city, where the Phung Hiep river splits into more branches: Vinh Quoi, Long My, Thanh Tri and Phung Hiep, bringing water to irrigate the fields.

On the Phung Hiep canal, many unique floating markets were formed in the past, such as Ca Mau Floating Market, Nga Nam Floating Market and Nga Bay Floating Market, attracting tourists to visit.
