The National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas has been identified by the Party Committee, the government, and socio-political organizations of the district as one of the key and regular tasks to direct the people to implement, prioritizing the concentration of resources to implement the criteria with creative and appropriate methods. The policies and projects implemented synchronously have improved the poor's access to production services and basic social services.
The newly completed Kha Cuu commune health station basically meets the primary health care needs of the people.
One of the outstanding achievements is the strong change in economic and social infrastructure in localities. Many rural roads have been upgraded and expanded to facilitate trade, commerce and travel. Clean water facilities, electricity grids, schools and medical stations have been invested, renovated and newly built to meet the essential needs of the people.
Visiting the comprehensive farm model of Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh in Cu Dong commune, we saw his efforts when dedicating his heart and soul to the mountains, forests and fields of his homeland. Mr. Vinh has invested in planting a number of fruit trees such as: Taiwanese guava, golden star apple, woody grapes, jackfruit... which initially brought high efficiency and economic value.
Mr. Vinh shared: 3 years ago, I boldly borrowed capital to invest in a comprehensive farm, growing fruit trees and raising livestock. Especially through training courses and visits to learn from models, I have accumulated a lot of knowledge to apply in practice. With each harvest, I gain experience to adjust techniques to improve crop quality and economic efficiency.
Mr. Vinh's woody grape growing model initially showed efficiency and economic value.
According to comrade Ha The Anh - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thanh Son district: Determining that creating sustainable livelihoods is a key factor to improve people's lives, Thanh Son district has implemented many agricultural production models in the direction of goods, linked to value chains such as growing medicinal plants, raising bees for honey, planting large timber forests, raising cattle and buffaloes for reproduction... Many households are supported with seedlings, breeds, technical guidance and access to preferential capital from the Social Policy Bank, supported with vocational training, training in production techniques and many policies to encourage ethnic minority youth to start businesses.
Not only focusing on economic development, Thanh Son district also cares about preserving and promoting the traditional cultural identity of ethnic minorities. Some traditional festivals and folk songs, folk dances, Vi and Rang singing of Muong people... are preserved and promoted. Many localities have integrated the content of preserving ethnic culture into the emulation movements to build new rural areas and encourage learning and talent. Schools in the district have also established and maintained regular activities of folk culture and arts clubs, contributing to spreading love, pride and awareness of heritage protection among the people.
The Muong folk culture and arts club in Cu Dong commune regularly maintains practice and performances at traditional festivals.
Notable results include the current average income of people in the district reaching 42 million VND/person/year, more than 2 times higher than in 2020. Essential infrastructure in ethnic minority areas has been improved with 100% of communes having asphalt or concrete roads to the center, and areas with hardened roads to the center; 100% of households using the national grid; 96.5% of ethnic minorities using clean water; 100% of ethnic minorities watching television and listening to radio; 100% of 5-year-old preschool, primary and high school children of school age; the rate of secondary school students going to school reached 99.07%; the rate of ethnic minority workers receiving appropriate vocational training reached 60%; 100% of women giving birth at medical facilities or with the support of medical staff; 52.7% of villages have effective traditional cultural and artistic clubs.
The synchronous development of infrastructure, economy and society of localities in Thanh Son district has contributed to improving the material and spiritual life of the people and is also a lever and stepping stone to maintain achievements, continue to promote internal strength to build and develop the homeland, especially when the 2-level local government comes into operation from July 1, 2025.
