Participating in the delegation of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, Quang Ninh province was represented by Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives of a number of departments, branches, scientific experts and relevant agencies and units.
During the working trip, the delegation actively promoted, publicized, and campaigned for legal registration and recognition of the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son-Kiep Bac World Heritage Complex at the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee.
The delegation had meetings with 20 Ambassadors, Heads of Delegations of member countries of the World Heritage Committee and the Representative of Bulgaria, President of the Session to clarify the outstanding global values of the nomination dossier; request support, assistance, and facilitation for the world heritage registration at the 47th session (taking place in July 2025).
The delegation had meetings with the Ambassador of Korea, Ambassador of Italy, Ambassador of Argentina, Director of the World Heritage Center Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay, Ambassador of Belgium, Ambassador of Bulgaria, Ambassador of India; Chargé d'Affaires of Mexico, Ambassador of Mexico, Ambassador of Japan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan , Ambassador of Qatar, Ambassador of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ambassador of Lebanon, Ambassador of Greece, Ambassador of Kenya, Ambassador of Turkey, Chargé d'Affaires of Senegal, Ambassador of Ukraine, Ambassador of Rwanda.
At the meetings, leaders of UNESCO organizations and representatives of countries will continue to study and evaluate the dossier of the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son-Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex of Vietnam. At the same time, they affirmed that they will have a common voice to support the dossier. On this occasion, the working group also received many meaningful advice and suggestions.
As planned, the delegation will continue to meet with ICOMOS Director General Marie Laure Lavenir and Director of the ICOMOS Nominations Department Gwenaëlle Bourdin, at ICOMO Headquarters; organize events to introduce and promote the cultural, historical and spiritual values of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex at the Vietnam Cultural Center in France, meet the Chairman of the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee and attend events organized by the Bulgarian Delegation before the Session.
After the working program in France, the delegation is expected to return home and continue to organize a meeting with Ambassadors of countries in Vietnam who are members of the World Heritage Council on June 20, 2025.
The nominated Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son-Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes represents the unique development and sustainable heritage of Truc Lam Zen, a Vietnamese Zen tradition dating back to the 13th century. This is a special testament to a vibrant ideology and religion, blending spiritual cultivation, ethical governance and local cultural identity. The working group respectfully proposes to inscribe this continuous cultural heritage complex into the World Heritage List, for its unique and sustainable contribution to the cultural and spiritual heritage of humanity, demonstrating UNESCO's core mission in nurturing the common values of humanity: education, building a culture of peace, autonomy and harmony with people and nature.
