Condolences on the fire in South Africa

Immediately after the fire that killed dozens of people,President Vo Van Thuong and Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan sent messages of condolences to South African leaders.

On September 1, upon hearing of the fire in Johannesburg, South Africa, which caused great loss of life and property, President Vo Van Thuong sent a message of condolences to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa; Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan sent a message of condolences to South African Vice President Paul Mashatile.

Earlier, on August 31, a fire broke out and burned down a five-story building used as illegal housing in Johannesburg - South Africa's largest city. On the afternoon of the same day, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that the fire had claimed the lives of 74 people and called it a "great tragedy".

In addition to the fatalities, 61 others were injured and treated in hospital.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at this time.

This is one of the deadliest fires worldwide in recent years.
