The material is an excerpt from a short story by writer Nguyen Minh Chau, about young soldiers in the war against America to save the country, relatively suitable for the level of reception of 12th grade students - who are also young people.

In the Reading Comprehension section, the questions at the recognition level do not pose any difficulties for students. However, questions 3 and 4 require students to have logical thinking, apply Vietnamese language knowledge, literary knowledge, and perceptive skills and life experiences to answer the questions.

These are good questions, good differentiation, and valuable in opening up students' thinking.

The fifth question in the Reading Comprehension section has a higher classification level, requiring students to have the ability to appreciate literature and life experience to present personal thoughts/feelings about a meaningful issue related to love and attachment of each individual to the lands they have visited, and more broadly, to the country.

This question is orienting for the dreams and ideals of young people.

"With this exam, I think the average score for literature this year is around 6.0 - 7.0 points.

"Excellent scores are for students with good skills and literary appreciation, which is very much in line with the innovative spirit of the 2018 General Education Program," said Ms. Thuy.

According to Dr. Trinh Thu Tuyet, a literature teacher at Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School, Hanoi , the biggest difference in the literature exam in the 2025 exam is that the materials for the reading comprehension and writing questions do not use texts from the three current textbooks.

This is the result of the innovation process of teaching and learning literature in high schools according to the 2018 General Education Program - when through reading comprehension texts in literature textbooks, teachers provide learners with knowledge of genres and Vietnamese, forming reading comprehension, appreciation, discussion, dialogue skills..., so that candidates can independently solve new problems of literature and life in the exam.

The official Literature exam closely followed the reference exam structure previously announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.

The content of the questions in the Reading and Writing sections of the exam are all within the scope of knowledge and skills according to the "Requirements to achieve" of the Literature subject - General Education Program 2018.
