Lao Cai informs about the case of a candidate whose re-examination score increased from 1.1 to 8.75

On August 13, the Department of Education and Training issued a press release with the information "After the review, the 2025 high school graduation exam score of a candidate increased from 1.1 points to 8.75 points".

According to a press release from the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province, after the end of the time to receive candidates' appeals, the Examination Council conducted the appeals of the 2025 High School Graduation Exams in accordance with the provisions of the Examination Regulations.

During the review process, the Examination Council discovered that in a Biology exam, the candidate wrote the wrong exam code on the Test Collection Form, and wrote and filled in the wrong exam code on the Multiple Choice Answer Sheet compared to the exam code that was distributed. Determining this to be an unusual case, the Department of Education and Training reported and asked for direction from the Ministry of Education and Training .

After receiving instructions from the Ministry of Education and Training to resolve the issue in a way that ensures the rights of candidates, the Department of Education and Training has drawn up a record of re-scoring the exam papers with confirmation, witnessing and supervision from relevant members of the Review Board including: Police, inspection team and provincial inspectors.

After the review, the candidate's test score was 8.75 points (an increase of 7.65 points).
