THERE IS A SCHOOL WITH A DIFFERENCE IN STANDARD SCORE BETWEEN MAJORS OF UP TO 10.39 POINTS
The general benchmark scores of schools show a slight decrease, the combinations (based on the original method, that is, the method of considering based on the results of the high school graduation exam). However, there are also some schools with a significant increase in benchmark scores in "hot" majors. For example, at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, this year there are 2 major codes with benchmark scores above 29: Advanced Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program IT-E10 (29.39); Computer Science program IT1 (29.19). Last year, the highest benchmark score was computer science, also only 28.53 points. However, the benchmark scores of "less attractive" majors decreased significantly (2 points), causing the gap between the highest and lowest benchmark scores of Hanoi University of Science and Technology to be 10.39 points (last year the gap was 7.53 points).

For the National Economics University, the highest benchmark score this year (logistics and supply chain management, 28.61 points) is also higher than last year's highest benchmark score (public relations, 28.02 points). But like the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the gap between the highest and lowest benchmark scores this year is larger than last year. Last year, no major at this university had a benchmark score lower than 26.71 points, but this year the lowest benchmark score is 23 points (public management and policy).
According to an admissions officer at the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi , the school's benchmark scores also increased slightly compared to 2024, especially in "hot" majors such as information technology, computer science, artificial intelligence, control engineering and automation (ranging from 27.5 to 28.2 points). This score level is compatible with the distribution of high school exam scores in 2025, when the score range is concentrated in the 27-28 point group, showing reasonableness and accurately reflecting the high competition in the group of excellent candidates.
The Foreign Trade University's benchmark also increased slightly in the original combination (A00) in terms of the highest benchmark score. This year, the highest benchmark score (advanced foreign economic program) is 28.5 (assessment method based on high school graduation exam scores), last year it was 28.1 points (but there were 4 majors that reached this benchmark score).
N INDUSTRIES WITH NEAR ABSOLUTE BENCHMARK SCORES
The admission score of the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) this year is very high. Specifically, in the direct admission and priority admission methods (30-point scale), artificial intelligence leads with 29.91 points, almost absolute. Other "hot" majors also have high admission scores such as: data science (29.14 points); computer science (28.9 points); microchip design (28.8 points). In the admission score method of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam (1,200-point scale), the admission score of artificial intelligence is at the highest position with 1,098 points. Even majors with the lowest admission scores such as computer networks and data information have a score of 854. In the admission method of the high school graduation exam (30-point scale), artificial intelligence also has the leading admission score at 29.6 points. For other majors, candidates must achieve an average of 9 points/subject according to the admission combination to be admitted, such as: data science (27.7 points); computer science (27.2 points) and microchip design (27 points).
For majors related to information technology, artificial intelligence, semiconductor chips..., the benchmark scores at top schools are very high; candidates with scores above 9 points/subject are not sure to be admitted.

Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang, Vice Principal of the school, said: "In general, the school's benchmark score for 2025 is very high in all methods. With this benchmark score, candidates who want to be admitted to the school must be excellent students with outstanding academic and exam results". Sharing the reason, Mr. Khang emphasized: "The school's admission score this year has increased in some key majors, reflecting the need for high-quality human resources in the digital transformation period".
The University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) also has a major with a near-absolute standard score. Accordingly, the standard score for considering high school graduation exam scores ranges from 19 to 29.92 (according to the subject group A00). Of which, computer science (advanced program) continues to hold the highest position with 29.92 points. Many other majors also have very high standard scores such as: artificial intelligence 29.39 (A00); the group of data science and microchip design majors also takes over 28 points.
Master Hoang Thanh Tu, Deputy Head of the Information and Communications Department of this school, said that the benchmark score of 29.92 for the computer science major is not surprising because last year it was 28.5. This year, the major continues to attract a large number of excellent candidates, including many international award winners, to choose to study. This result reflects the strong appeal of this major at the school.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education also recorded high admission scores. The average admission score of candidates to the school this year was 26.16 points.
K EDUCATION AND HEALTH INDUSTRIES CONTINUE TO BE ATTRACTIVE
Teacher training continues to be among the majors with high admission scores this year. According to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the admission score in 2025 tends to remain the same or increase slightly compared to 2024. Notably, 2 majors have admission scores above 29 points and 4 majors above 28 points. Chemistry pedagogy is the major with the highest admission score in this group with 29.38 points. The university's non-pedagogical majors also attract great attention in this year's admission season, of which psychology is the major with the highest admission score, 28.08 points.
Meanwhile, among the majors with a benchmark score of 29 or higher this year, there is no major in the health sciences field. The benchmark scores of these majors are high but not among the top majors with the highest benchmark scores.
For example, this year, the benchmark scores for majors at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy range from 17 to 27.34. Compared to last year, the benchmark scores for medical majors this year decreased slightly, the benchmark scores for dentistry and maxillofacial surgery decreased by nearly 1 point, and the benchmark scores for pharmacy decreased by nearly 3 points.
Similarly, the benchmark score of Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine also decreased sharply compared to last year. Accordingly, the medical major decreased by more than 1 point, from 26.57 in 2024 to 25.55 points this year. The pharmaceutical major took 22 points, down more than 3.5 points compared to last year (in 2024, the benchmark score for this major was 25.51). The benchmark scores of the school's majors ranged from only 18 to 25.55 points.
Hanoi Medical University also has a lower admission score compared to last year for all majors. However, majors with high admission scores only decreased slightly. For example, the admission score for medicine this year is 28.13; last year it was 28.27. Or the admission score for dentistry this year is 27.34; last year it was 27.67. In terms of numbers, psychology has the highest admission score, 28.7 points for combination C00 (last year it was 28.83). However, the admission score for combination B00 of this major is only 23.7 points (last year it was 25.46); combination D01 is 26.7 points (last year it was 26.86).
At the University of Health Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), the benchmark for the medical major has the highest benchmark in all three admission methods. Specifically, the graduation exam score method takes 25.6 points; the Ho Chi Minh City National University competency assessment test score method takes 896 points; the direct admission method, priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Ho Chi Minh City National University takes 85.5 points.
Teacher training continues to be among the majors with high benchmark scores this year.

Analyzing the trend of benchmark scores for health majors, an admissions expert at a university in Ho Chi Minh City said that there are many reasons. The most important reason is that health science majors at public universities are almost exclusively based on the results of the high school graduation exam. Meanwhile, biology - a subject in the traditional admission combination for this major (math - chemistry - biology) this year has a small number of candidates taking the exam, and the exam results are not high. This leads to the benchmark scores for these majors being not high.
Contrary to the above trend, many universities this year recorded a high number of applications but the admission scores did not increase. For example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade recorded a record high number of applications, nearly 178,000 applications. However, the admission scores for majors based on high school graduation exam scores ranged from 17 to 24.5 points.
