Impressive debut of Vietnam women's volleyball team at world tournament

In their first participation in the Women's Volleyball World Championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team made a strong impression by winning the first game against the world's third-ranked team, Poland.

Experts and even the most optimistic fans only hoped that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team would have a watchable match against Poland, but unexpectedly, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students did much more than that.

The first time participating in the world championship, the team was disrupted at the last minute when the number 1 scorer Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen withdrew, but Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Thi Trinh and especially Vi Thi Nhu Quynh competed confidently.

It was the confidence that helped the Vietnamese girls enter the game explosively, effectively promoting fast attacks, skillfully handling to defeat the blockers with superior physique, thereby winning 25/23 in the first set against the powerful Polish team. That was a historic victory for Vietnamese women's volleyball in the world arena.

According to the match's statistics, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh was the top scorer of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team with 20 points, including 18 attacking points, 1 blocking point and 1 direct serving point. Middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy also played impressively, contributing 9 points from effective fast hits. Opposite setter Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, who replaced Bich Tuyen, also contributed 8 points and captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy scored 6 points.

The 3-1 victory over Vietnam helped Poland and Germany (who beat Kenya 3-0) share first and second place in Group G. On August 25, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face Germany (ranked 11th in the world). This is a crucial match because if they defeat their opponents, the opportunity to advance to the knockout round for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will be wide open because in the final match, the Vietnamese team will face an "easier" opponent, Kenya.
