This year’s high school graduation exam took place over two days, June 26-27, with more than 1.16 million candidates, an increase of nearly 100,000 compared to last year. Candidates taking the exam according to the new general education program (2018) took four exams. Of which, two compulsory subjects were Literature and Mathematics. Two elective subjects were: Foreign Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology (Agriculture, Industry).
Math is the second subject after Literature. Candidates will have 90 minutes to complete the test with 22 questions, including 12 multiple choice questions A, B, C, D; 4 true/false questions; 6 short answer questions.
There are 4 true/false questions, each with 4 ideas. Candidates who choose exactly one idea in a question will get 0.1 point; two ideas will get 0.25; three ideas will get 0.5. Only by getting all four ideas right will they get 1 full point. Compared to previous years, the scoring method has changed, no longer dividing 0.25 equally for each question. According to teachers, this method helps to classify candidates as good, fair, and average.
The average score distribution for the Math exam has been stable in recent years, with increasing differentiation. Last year, the average score was 6.45. The highest score achieved by most candidates was 7.6, with no exam scoring 10.
Tomorrow, candidates will take two elective subjects in the morning to complete the first exam according to the 2018 generaleducation program. The exam scores will be announced on July 16. Candidates who want to appeal must submit their applications by July 25.
