On the morning of June 24 (Vietnam time), Inter Miami had a regrettable 2-2 draw against Palmeiras in the final match of Group A of the 2024/25 FIFA Club World Cup.
Despite leading 2-0 thanks to goals from Tadeo Allende and Luis Suarez, the US representative still could not maintain the advantage in the final minutes of the match.

In the 16th minute, Allende broke the deadlock with a perfect shot after a sharp combination from the home team.
The dominating game continued to be maintained and in the 65th minute, Luis Suarez increased the score to 2-0 with a powerful shot into the top corner, after a classy handling situation.
However, when everything seemed settled, Inter's defense suddenly collapsed. In the 80th minute, Paulinho shortened the score with a tricky low shot. Just 7 minutes later, Mauricio took advantage of a chaos in the penalty area to score, bringing the equalizer 2-2 for Palmeiras.

Despite Lionel Messi's aggressive play and continuous breakthroughs at the end of the match, Inter Miami still could not regain 3 points. With this draw, they only finished second in Group A and will have to face PSG in the round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The bitter draw forced coach Javier Mascherano and his players to seriously review their defense system, especially when facing the reigning European champions, with a squad of top stars.
