ENJOY IMPRESSIVE CULTURAL COLORS AT KIMONO – AODAI FASHION SHOW
The Kimono - Aodai Fashion Show cultural exchange program took place on March 4 at the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel, leaving many deep impressions on the audience. Kimono - Aodai Fashion Show is the first activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973-2023), co-organized by the non-profit art organization Be-Japon, in coordination with the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and BRG Group. This is Be-Japon's first event in Asia after more than 20 years of being a bridge to bring Japanese culture closer to many international friends through kimono shows in Europe, Asia and America. The event was sponsored by Vietnam Airlines , Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank), InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel and Chu Dau Ceramics Joint Stock Company. More than 30 kimono and ao dai sets were introduced to the show's audience by talented designer Kobayashi Eiko, combined with traditional Japanese music and makeup.
Ms. Mori Masako, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, delivered the opening speech at the show.
Madame Nguyen Thi Nga, Chairwoman of BRG Group , spoke at the event.
Artist Miwa Naito performs on the 25-string Japanese koto.
The highlight of the program is the traditional 12-layer Junihitoe costume, which is a costume often worn at events of the nobility or in the royal court in ancient times. Nowadays, Junihitoe is used as the costume of the empress during the coronation ceremony of the Emperor, or the wedding ceremony of female members of the royal family.
The kimono costumes in the scene “Blue Connects the World” were made from fabric over 100 years old and stored in a drawer left after the 2011 tsunami in Japan.
The scene “Liberation and Creation of Kimono” shows the fun of kimono when it is liberated from old stereotypes.
The show closed with the appearance of designer Kobayashi Eiko.
The program organizers received souvenirs of Chu Dau Ceramic products, the quintessence of Vietnamese ceramics with a history of nearly 600 years.
