Lung Cu National Flagpole belongs to the new Lung Cu commune, established on the basis of merging 3 communes, Lung Cu, Lung Tao and Ma Le (all three communes belonged to Dong Van district, Ha Giang province before).

After its establishment, Lung Cu commune had an area of ​​95.20 km2 with a population of 15,155 people. The new Lung Cu commune borders Dong Van commune and Sa Phin commune (Tuyen Quang province).

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Hung, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Lung Cu Border Guard Station, said that the Lung Cu National Flagpole is directly managed by the unit. In addition, the Lung Cu National Flagpole Relic Management Board under the Dong Van District Department of Culture is responsible for guiding and regulating tourists and organizing ticket sales. Now the management work has been transferred to the commune, helping the Border Guard force coordinate more quickly and effectively with the local authorities.

Along with the task of protecting sovereignty, Lung Cu Border Guard Station is implementing 22 local support models such as eliminating temporary housing, eliminating illiteracy, "adopted children of Border Guard Station", rotating breeding cows... The "Green Military Uniform Teacher" program is helping more than 523 people to read and write, helping people to soon access universal "Digital Education for All", according to the National Target Program. In addition, 18 Party members of the Station are assigned to be in charge of key villages in the Border area, helping to get closer to the villages and hamlets.

"The newly established commune-level administrative unit, with a team of well-trained staff, I believe will help improve the economy and social order in the border area," Lieutenant Colonel Hung shared.

Lung Cu Flagpole is located at an altitude of nearly 1,500 m above sea level, about 3.3 km from the northernmost point of Vietnam as the crow flies. The flagpole was built according to the model of Hanoi Flagpole, with a total height of 34.85 m, the flag is 54 m2 wide, symbolizing 54 ethnic groups living together in harmony and solidarity on the territory of Vietnam.

The body of the column is designed in an octagonal shape, with 8 bronze drums and 8 green stone reliefs illustrating the stages of each historical period of the country as well as the people and customs of the ethnic groups in Ha Giang (old).
