Da Nang subsidized bus operator owes social insurance for 5 years

On July 1, Da Nang City Social Insurance (SI) held a conference to provide results of implementing social insurance, health insurance (HI), and unemployment insurance (UI) policies in the first 6 months of 2024.

At the conference, the Department of Collection Management - Book Card, Social Insurance of Da Nang City said that in the city there are many businesses in debt to social insurance.

In which, Quang An 1 Industrial Joint Stock Company - Da Nang Branch is one of the enterprises with long-term social insurance debt with a large amount of money.

According to the Collection Management Department - Social Insurance Card, Da Nang City, the fact that Quang An 1 Industrial Joint Stock Company - Da Nang Branch owes social insurance for a long time has seriously affected the lives of workers.

Up to now, this company has owed more than 12 billion VND in social insurance, equivalent to 56 months. Da Nang Social Insurance coordinated with relevant departments and branches, advised Da Nang People's Committee to issue a dispatch to Vietnam Social Insurance to resolve and handle the issue. However, up to now, Quang An 1 Company has not paid a single dong to the Social Insurance for the above debt.

Mr. Nguyen Tri Dai, Director of Da Nang Social Insurance, said that in addition to managing collection and developing participants in social insurance and health insurance, the unit regularly handles establishments that owe and delay social insurance payments, in order to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of employees.

"However, this only stops at inspection and supervision because the current handling mechanism is not strong enough," said Mr. Dai.

According to Mr. Dai, recently, the Social Insurance Department suggested amending the law to include content and sanctions such as not issuing tax invoices and prohibiting exit for representatives of units that are late or have long-term social insurance debts to increase sanctions, but it has not been approved yet.

Giao thong Newspaper has published many articles reflecting the situation of Quang An 1 Industrial Joint Stock Company - Da Nang Branch continuously owing social insurance, wages of drivers and assistants on subsidized bus routes in Da Nang for a long time.
In previous years, every few months workers on these bus routes stopped working to demand their wages, causing disruption to the subsidized bus system.
