President Biden's son wants court to retry gun possession case

Hunter Biden became the first son of a sitting US president to be convicted of a felony on June 11, after a jury found him guilty on all three counts of lying about using drugs when buying a gun in 2018, according to Reuters.

On June 24, the defendant’s lawyers filed a request for a retrial. The reason given was that an appeals court had not given the green light for the recent trial, and the lawyers argued that the trial had taken place without sufficient conditions and should be re-conducted.

Specifically, the federal appeals court rejected two of Mr. Biden’s motions to dismiss the charges. However, lawyers said the court has not yet made a formal decision to reject either of the defendant’s two appeals.

Hunter Biden claims that the law he is accused of violating is constitutionally ambiguous and infringes on his Second Amendment right to bear arms.
