Wide open job opportunities in nursing

Many hospitals in Dong Nai province continue to lack nurses due to limited supply and the fact that nurses are still leaving their jobs.

Therefore, newly graduated nurses have many job opportunities, not only at hospitals in the province, but also abroad.

Great demand

Specialist II Doctor Dinh Cao Minh, Deputy Director of Dong Nai General Hospital, said that the hospital is recruiting 20 nurses to serve the Artificial Kidney Unit and some other departments. Not only will they enjoy full benefits in terms of salary, allowances, and additional income, the hospital's leadership promises that when nurses officially work at the hospital, if they meet all the necessary requirements, they will have the opportunity to advance in their careers.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Children's Hospital Nguyen Trong Nghia shared that the hospital hopes to recruit 22 nurses who truly love their job, love children, have a heart, and are committed to the hospital for a long time.

“According to regulations, after graduation, students must practice at a hospital for 6 months before being granted a practice certificate. Any student who commits to working at a hospital after 6 months of practice will be trained by the hospital for free. The minimum salary for new nurses is 6 million VND/month. In addition, nurses also enjoy other policies such as support for rent and on-duty fees; if they become civil servants, they will receive support from the province of 3 million VND/month. Total income is about 10 million VND/month or more,” said Dr. Nghia.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Health Nguyen Van Binh, the reason why hospitals are always in a state of shortage of nurses is because the "supply" cannot meet the "demand". Meanwhile, the private health system is developing very strongly. Up to now, in addition to public hospitals, Dong Nai has 10 private hospitals, 87 private clinics, not to mention corporate health care that also needs to recruit nurses. In particular, the issue of income is also an obstacle that makes many students not really "interested" in choosing nursing.

Deputy Director of the Department of Health NGUYEN VAN BINH said that Dong Nai currently has nearly 5 thousand nurses, midwives, and technicians. Compared to before, the professional level of this team has been significantly improved. The number of nurses with university and specialist I degrees is increasing. This needs to continue to be promoted to meet the requirements of people's health care.

Hope for stable job and high income

Head of the Nursing - Medical Technology Department, Dong Nai Medical College, Dao Thi Nhung, said that in 2025, the school had 100 nursing graduates, lower than previous years due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, in recent years, the number of students enrolling in nursing has increased. In 2024, the school recruited more than 200 nursing students.

With only a few days left before he will hold his nursing college degree, Mr. Pham Dao Minh Khoa (Dong Nai Medical College) shared that after graduation, he wants to work at Dong Nai General Hospital or Thong Nhat General Hospital. During his time studying at the school, he interned at Thong Nhat General Hospital (departments: Neurology, Gastroenterology, Emergency, Interventional Cardiology), Dong Nai Children's Hospital (departments: Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning, Tropical Diseases), Dong Nai General Hospital (departments: Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, General Internal Medicine). Through his internship, he realized that although nursing work is hard, it is also very joyful because he gets to take care of patients and see them getting healthier every day thanks to medical care.

Ms. Phan Thi Kieu Oanh (student of Dong Nai Medical College) said that she has applied for jobs at Hoan My Dong Nai Hospital, Dong Nai General Hospital and Dong Nai Hospital - 2. She hopes to have a stable job with a salary sufficient to cover her living expenses.

Ms. Kieu Oanh confided that after a period of internship at hospitals, she found joy in her work when she was able to interact with, care for, and look after children.

Not only have job opportunities in the country, after graduation nurses also have many job opportunities abroad.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thanh, Labor Export and Expert Services Joint Stock Company (Suleco, headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City), said that each year the company recruits 50-100 nurses to go to Japan to work as daily or long-term caregivers for the elderly. The elderly healthcare industry in Japan is receiving a lot of attention, so the income and benefits for nurses are quite good. On average, a nurse's monthly income is 30-40 million VND, after deducting deductions, the remaining income is about 28-30 million VND.

According to statistics, more than 95% of the school's students have jobs after graduation, and are highly appreciated by hospitals and medical facilities for the quality of their training. In the coming time, the school will continue to expand enrollment and strengthen cooperation between institutes and schools in training to meet the increasing human resource needs of medical facilities.
