From the main gate to the headquarters, rows of small-leafed banyan trees spread their cool shade. The system of signs and maps clearly indicate; internal roads, parks, flower gardens, and ornamental plants are planned in harmony with the office buildings, halls, and houses, creating a vivid picture in the middle of the red soil plateau.

Soldiers of Engineering Brigade 280 (Military Region 5) take care of flower gardens and ornamental plants in the unit's campus.

While pruning the areca trees in the hall, Private Siu Quan, a soldier of Battalion 1, wiped away his sweat and confided: “Landscaping is not only a task but also a sentiment. To me, the unit is my second home. Every time I plant trees and take care of flowers, I feel like I am taking care of my own home.”

Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Manh Thang, Deputy Political Commissar of the 280th Engineer Brigade, said: “Over the years, the Party Committee and the Brigade commander have always identified building a regular, bright, green, clean, and beautiful barracks as a key task. The Party Committee has issued a thematic resolution, launching an emulation movement associated with the Campaign “Building and managing regular, green, clean, and beautiful barracks”, attracting the enthusiastic participation of cadres and soldiers, especially union members and youth.”

With the motto "top to bottom working together", over the past 5 years, the Brigade has invested nearly 6 billion VND and mobilized thousands of working days of cadres and union members to build and renovate the barracks. Many practical works serving living and studying activities such as: concrete yard, road, badminton and volleyball stadium, photo board, landscape, fish pond, fruit garden, farming and livestock areas... have been completed, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of soldiers.

Another effective way is to select soldiers with construction talent to train and participate in repairing barracks, preventing leaks, preventing collapses, and whitewashing the entire campus. Every Tet holiday, the unit launches the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho", attracting a large number of cadres and union members to respond. Thanks to that, the system of trees and grass is scientifically planned and regularly cared for. The unit also plants new fruit tree varieties with nutritional value, suitable for the terrain, contributing to creating a fresh living environment, close to nature.

The persistent and creative work of the officers and soldiers of the 280th Engineering Brigade not only beautifies the unit but also clearly demonstrates their sense of responsibility and attachment to their "second home".
