'Shocked' by the admission scores for grade 6 at Thanh Xuan Secondary School, Hanoi

TPO - Thanh Xuan District High Quality Secondary School (Hanoi) has just announced that the admission score for grade 6 is 57 points, 5 points higher than last year.

The admission score for grade 6 at Thanh Xuan Secondary School is higher than last year. Last year, the admission score was 51.4 points.

The school requires successful candidates to bring admission documents including: Original primary school transcript, application form with proof of permanent residence in Hanoi city; copy of birth certificate, original certificate of priority issued by competent authority (if any).

Students take the aptitude test to enter school this year.

Time for candidates to complete admission procedures is from 7:30 am on June 12 to 5:00 pm on June 13.

“In case the admission documents do not match the application documents, the candidate's admission results will be canceled,” the school announced.

Thanh Xuan Secondary School is a high-quality school in Hanoi. In the 2025-2026 school year, the school will enroll 9 classes with 360 quotas for grade 6 with the admission method being a combination of admission and capacity assessment.

Previously, this school organized a test to assess students' abilities in 3 subjects: Math, Vietnamese, and English to get admission scores.

Admission scores are calculated according to the formula: admission score + capacity assessment score (coefficient 2).

In which, the admission score is the score of the transcript plus priority points (if any). Before entering the capacity assessment test, students must meet the conditions, the final periodic tests in Math, Vietnamese, and English must have a score of 9 or higher.

The maximum total admission score is 10 points, with a maximum of 2 points per year. Students who score 9 points will have 0.25 points deducted from their total admission score.

In addition, students will receive 1-2 bonus points if they fall into the following cases:

Students are awarded 2 points if they are children of martyrs, children of wounded soldiers with a working capacity loss of 81% or more; children of people who are granted a "Certificate of beneficiaries of policies for wounded soldiers who are granted a certificate of beneficiaries of policies for wounded soldiers with a working capacity loss of 81% or more"; children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals; children of revolutionary activists before January 1, 1945; children of revolutionary activists from January 1, 1945 to the August 1945 uprising.

Students are awarded 1.5 points if they are one of the following: children of armed forces heroes, children of labor heroes, children of heroic Vietnamese mothers, children of war invalids with a working capacity loss of less than 81%; children of people granted "Certificate of beneficiaries of policies for war invalids whose working capacity is reduced by 81% or more".

Students are awarded 1.0 points if they belong to one of the following categories: having a parent who is an ethnic minority; ethnic minority, student in an area with special socio -economic conditions.
