After quitting his job at the company, Mr. Thao went to the Provincial Employment Service Center to submit an application for unemployment benefits. After completing the procedures, he received 9 months of unemployment benefits, 5.7 million VND per month. This amount of money helped him to cover his living expenses while he had not found a new job.
Ms. Duong Truc Linh, in Thanh Loi Hamlet, Hoa Luu Commune, Vi Thanh City, feels secure when receiving unemployment benefits of 2.5 million VND per month after quitting her job at a garment company. Ms. Linh said: “I received 7 months of unemployment benefits, this amount of money helps me cover my living expenses. Currently, I am taking care of my sick mother. When she gets better, I will look for a job to take care of my family.”
From cases like Mr. Thao and Ms. Linh, it can be seen that unemployment insurance has clearly demonstrated its role in ensuring social security in supporting unemployed workers with an income, helping them stabilize their lives.
In order to facilitate workers, the Provincial Employment Service Center has implemented applications for unemployment benefits in many forms: directly at the headquarters and representative offices, through the National Public Service Portal. Diversifying the forms of receiving applications helps workers save time and travel costs, while improving the efficiency of administrative settlement, aiming to build a modern and transparent public administration.
Since the beginning of the year, over 3,200 workers have received decisions on unemployment benefits.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuoc, Director of the Provincial Employment Service Center, said: "Unemployment insurance is a practical source of financial support when workers lose their main income. During the time they have not found a new job, this subsidy helps workers cover some of their living expenses, reducing difficulties. At the same time, it also introduces jobs and supports vocational training, increasing opportunities for workers to return to the job market soon."
Help the unemployed find new jobs soon
Vocational training support to quickly return to the labor market is one of the benefits that workers enjoy when participating in unemployment insurance. This is considered a positive solution to overcome difficulties and help workers stabilize their lives.
According to regulations, workers receiving unemployment benefits who need to learn a trade are supported to learn a trade through vocational training facilities, but are not supported with money to learn a trade on their own. The time workers are supported to learn a trade depends on the training time of each trade, but not more than 6 months (support level is 1.5 million VND/month).
To bring workers back to the job market soon, contributing to ensuring social security, the Provincial Employment Service Center has stepped up propaganda on vocational training support through the website, social networks, direct consultation at the center, representative offices and job fairs. Currently, the center is collaborating with driving training units.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, in Binh Loi Hamlet, Long Binh Commune, Long My Town, said: “Previously, after quitting my job, I went to the Provincial Employment Service Center to register for unemployment benefits. I was advised on vocational training policies. After researching, I learned to drive, because this profession is quite popular.”
According to the Provincial Employment Service Center, since the beginning of the year, 27 people receiving unemployment benefits have registered for vocational training.
