Arsenal mocked for buying Madueke. |
The Chelsea-Arsenal transfer saga continues to be the focus of attention in England. The history of transfers between the two clubs shows that Chelsea have often benefited from deals, and Madueke’s case could continue to reinforce this trend.
Madueke's move to Arsenal for a reported £52 million has sparked mixed reactions from the Gunners fanbase. Some Arsenal fans have even written a petition against the deal, highlighting the division over the decision to sign Madueke.
Having signed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for £5m earlier this month, Arsenal have signed players from Chelsea for six consecutive seasons. Since the summer of 2019, Arsenal have spent a total of £142m on players from their cross-city rivals.
The list of players who have moved from Chelsea to Arsenal includes David Luiz, Willian, Jorginho, Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling, Kepa and possibly Madueke. Of these, only Havertz has played well but the German star has a fee of up to 65 million pounds.
Havertz is becoming one of Arsenal's key players. However, this price can hardly be considered a bargain for the Gunners. The rest, David Luiz, Willian, Jorginho or Raheem Sterling all came to Arsenal when they were in decline and did not show much.
