However, due to the large traffic volume, especially trucks and buses on the elevated road, at times the erection of barriers to block the ramps has caused congestion on Pham Hung Street and the elevated Ring Road 3.

After the bridge surface and ramps from Pham Hung to Pham Van Dong were paved, according to the planned traffic diversion plan, the construction unit installed barriers to limit the height of vehicles crossing the steel overpass; pedestrians, cyclists, and non-motorized vehicles are prohibited from going onto the bridge.

The sidewalk and traffic island under the steel overpass are also being renovated. The clearance for vehicles passing under the steel overpass is controlled at a height of less than 3.5 meters.

After the steel overpass is opened to traffic and put into use, the Mai Dich overpass will be expanded from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, expected to reduce the long-standing traffic congestion at Ring Road 3 and Mai Dich intersection.

The two plaintiffs of Mai Dich steel overpass started construction in May 2023.

In addition to the task of separating cars and motorbikes to reduce conflicts and traffic congestion, the steel overpass also helps exploit the elevated Ring Road 3 section through Mai Dich intersection according to expressway standards.

The project has an investment of over 344 billion VND, the Thang Long Project Management Board, Ministry of Transport is the investor, construction progress is 5/2023 - 3/2024.
