The Football Association of Thailand has imposed heavy penalties on members of the Thai U22 team who participated in the brawl at the 32nd SEA Games final. Accordingly, the Investigation Committee of the Football Association of Thailand has released documents on the incident. The two players Sophonwit and Teerapak were suspended from playing for the national teams for 6 months.

Three members of the coaching staff were also punished, namely goalkeeper coach Chokchok Chokmoh, and two team officials Mayid Madada and Patrawut Wongsripuek. These people received heavier punishments because, according to the Football Association of Thailand, they are experienced and qualified and must set an example for the players.

The brawl in the final match of SEA Games 32.

Previously, in the final match of the 32nd SEA Games, the U22 Indonesia and U22 Thailand teams had a collision. The referee had to show 7 red cards to members of both teams. Coach Sritaro accused player Santana of provocative actions after mishearing the referee's whistle in the last minute of extra time in the second half.

The two teams overreacted. The climax was a scuffle after U22 Indonesia raised the score to 3-2 in extra time. On the field, U22 Thailand had 2 players sent off, while U22 Indonesia was down 1 player. Coach Sjafri and his team won 5-2 to be crowned champions.

This defeat left Thai football empty-handed in three consecutive SEA Games. However, the image of this country's football was seriously affected after the brawl. Not only the Thai Football Federation, the Asian Football Confederation will also impose penalties on the two teams.
