Carlos Alcaraz is the new money machine of tennis

At 22, Carlos Alcaraz is not only conquering major titles on the field but also rising strongly in another "silent race": the prize money rankings.

Carlos Alcaraz is on a strong career trajectory.

After six seasons as a professional, the young Spanish talent has pocketed a total of 40.89 million euros, becoming the seventh highest-earning tennis player in history - an incredible milestone for an athlete who has not yet turned 25.

With five titles in the first seven months of the year – Roland Garros, Rome Masters, Monte Carlo Masters, Rotterdam and Queens – Alcaraz is the highest-earning player in the 2025 season, with €8.21m, ahead of Jannik Sinner (€7.28m) and Aryna Sabalenka (€5.78m), who are both at the top of the ATP and WTA rankings.

The victory at Roland Garros against Sinner himself earned Alcaraz 2.55 million euros. The two Masters 1000 titles in Rome and Monte Carlo earned him 985,000 and 946,000 euros respectively. The ATP 500 victories in Rotterdam (449,000 euros) and Queens (471,000 euros) further cemented his dominance on all surfaces. In addition, reaching the Wimbledon final last week brought the Murcian player an additional 1.77 million euros.

After just six years at the top, Alcaraz has 21 titles, 257 wins and two Roland Garros titles. He is laying the foundations for a new era in men's tennis - the post-"Big Three" era.

The fact that he and Sinner - who is right behind with €39.44m in prize money - take turns dominating major tournaments promises to create a long-term, fascinating competition like what Nadal, Federer and Djokovic have done over the past two decades.

Carlos Alcaraz is also very good at making money.

Despite his flying high, Alcaraz still has a long way to go before he can reach the greats. Novak Djokovic is the highest-paid tennis player of all time with €163.12 million, thanks to 24 Grand Slams and seven ATP Finals titles. Behind him are Rafael Nadal (€116.51 million) and Roger Federer (€112.75 million). These three are the only players to have ever earned more than €100 million in prize money – a measure not just of achievement but also of longevity and class spanning more than two decades.

Alcaraz is clearly “burning the stage” with an incredible speed of earning money. While Federer needed 24 years of playing to reach his figure, Nadal and Djokovic also needed 23 seasons, Alcaraz is only in the sixth year of his career.

Behind the legendary trio are Andy Murray (55.85 million euros), Alexander Zverev (46.42 million euros), then Alcaraz with 40.89 million. Right behind are Daniil Medvedev (40.38 million) and Sinner - his main rival in the near future.

On the women's side, Serena Williams is the highest-earning player with €81.85 million, placing fourth overall. Venus Williams is 11th with €36.81 million. Although the four Grand Slams have had equal prize money for men and women since 2007, the gap at lower levels is still large, leaving women often behind in total earnings. In 2024, the top 10 men will earn 41% more than their female counterparts.
