Người Đưa TinNgười Đưa Tin23/08/2024

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has recently recorded a phenomenon of scammers impersonating the SBV, faking the SBV's email interface to send information to lure people and customers to click on fraudulent links to update biometric information for banking transactions.

To gain the trust of the recipients, the scammers cited a number of regulations in Decision No. 2345/QD-NHNN dated December 18, 2023 of the State Bank of Vietnam on implementing solutions, safety and security in online payments and bank card payments and asked the recipients to update their biometric information via the fraudulent link in the email.

The fake email has the address “[email protected]”.

Specifically, the fake email has the address "[email protected]" Sending fraudulent information with 02 links: update biometric information, request to do before August 30, 2024; full text of Decision No. 2345/QD-NHNN (attached with fake email).

The State Bank of Vietnam confirmed that this is an act of impersonating the State Bank of Vietnam to trick recipients into following the scammer's request to collect customer information.

Specifically, by luring customers to click on fake links to download and install applications that collect biometric information, but in fact, download files containing malware, spyware, exploit customer information to take control of personal devices, customer bank accounts or steal information and victim data to commit illegal acts.

Currently, the State Bank only provides official information to the public through the State Bank's electronic information portal at (https://www.sbv.gov.vn).

The State Bank does not send emails directly to customers of credit institutions requesting to update biometric information.

The State Bank of Vietnam recommends that people and customers of credit institutions be extremely vigilant, do not click on strange links sent via chat, SMS or email; do not provide personal information to websites of unknown origin;

Do not provide one-time passwords (OTP codes), internet banking/mobile banking passwords... to anyone, including bank employees;

Be careful and vigilant when receiving and processing information and requests from unofficial information channels of unknown origin (such as information not from official information channels of state agencies that have been publicly announced).
