On May 25, International University (IU, a member of VNU-HCM) organized the final round and awarded prizes for the 2024 school-level startup competition. The result was that the first prize went to the E-Motion project.

E-Motion focuses on improving conventional wheelchairs by converting them into electric wheelchairs instead of having to discard them.

By integrating the battery system and electric motor into a specially designed frame that can be mounted on any conventional wheelchair model, the wheelchair is able to move on its own without the need for push from the user. This brings great convenience and utility to users, especially those with limited mobility.

This innovation also reduces effort and increases flexibility in daily commuting, while contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution.

Information from the organizers said that the E-Motion project already has a basic product.

The Plantae application uses artificial intelligence (AI) to identify plants, but to optimize identification results and bring good user experience, many other technologies and features have been researched and applied to The Plantae.

Simply snap a photo of a plant with your phone’s camera and the app will compare it to a database of up to 33,300 plants. If it finds a match, it will display the plant’s common and scientific names, general description, scientific classification, geographic distribution, toxicity, health rating, and appropriate care, among other information.

In particular, The Plantae is the first application that focuses on the medicinal properties of that plant species (for example, medicinal plants) and is optimized for the Vietnamese market.

In particular, most of the entries this year already had basic products when participating in the preliminary selection round, thereby improving the quality of the competition and the competitiveness between projects.

The three highest-winning projects will participate in the school's incubation activities to continue perfecting their products, connecting with experts, and connecting with acceleration organizations to support practical development. In addition, the projects in the TOP 8 will be supported in development and have the opportunity to represent the school in competitions and events at different levels in the coming time.
