Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Alan Shearer commented on the FIFA Club World Cup final between Chelsea and PSG: “It will be an exciting final. There is no doubt that PSG are the favourites, but Chelsea have also improved a lot. So it will be a final worth watching.”
Shearer also gave Chelsea tactical advice when facing PSG: “If Chelsea play a direct attack and try to overwhelm PSG, I fear they will suffer the same result as Real Madrid (lost 0-4 in the semi-finals). But if they play smart, know how to defend solidly, wait for the opportunity and counter-attack quickly, then I think they have a chance.”
However, Shearer also warned about PSG's frightening form: "Since October last year, PSG have been the best team, completely superior to any other team. Every player in their squad is in top form, playing to the best of their ability. This will be an extremely difficult challenge for Chelsea."
Another English legend, Gary Lineker, believes Chelsea can win thanks to a moment of individual brilliance, particularly from Cole Palmer: “Nothing is impossible - Chelsea still have a chance. With players like Cole Palmer or Joao Pedro, they can absolutely create a moment of magic to give hope. But it will be very difficult for them.”
