On the morning of August 1, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee chaired a meeting to congratulate the Vietnam U23 football team on winning the U23 Southeast Asian Championship.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong; leaders of functional departments and offices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan; Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation Nguyen Trung Kien; Head coach Kim Sang Sik and players of the Vietnam National U23 Football Team.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee sent best wishes from the Party and State leaders to the Vietnam Football Federation, the Coaching Board, Head Coach Kim Sang Sik and the entire National U23 Men's Football Team.
According to Minister Nguyen Van Hung, the Southeast Asian U23 Tournament is a gathering place for the top youth football teams in ASEAN. The Vietnam U23 team has won the tournament twice, which is both an advantage and a challenge for the team when participating in this tournament.
"But with high determination, strong will, and the foundation of good training and reasonable tactics, we have won the championship for the third consecutive time," said the Minister.
According to the Minister, the achievements of the National U23 Team have created a ripple effect throughout society, helping us to have more confidence in the youth and in the development of our country's football in the coming time.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung congratulated and thanked the coaching staff and players for their valuable contributions to the victory.
The Minister said that immediately after the tournament ended, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proactively worked with the Vietnam Football Federation to arrange a time to meet and encourage the team. However, some players immediately returned to practice for the next matches after the tournament ended, which was a manifestation of the players' spirit of continued dedication and non-restlessness.
"Figuratively speaking, the players are like hard-working, diligent, and patient bees to achieve today's victory," the Minister said, thanking the coaching staff and the players for their valuable contributions to the victory.
The Minister also noted that Vietnamese people have the spirit of "not being arrogant in victory, not being discouraged in defeat", so through this meeting, we not only encourage and motivate each other but also have to determine to be even more determined, not to be intoxicated and rest on our laurels.
From now until the end of the year, we have two very important tournaments: the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. With the determination set by the Federation, I suggest that the Coaching Board strengthen more solutions in training to continue to win glory in these two tournaments.
The Minister hopes that with their youth, dedication, proper training and especially the support of tens of millions of Vietnamese people, it will be a great motivation for our players to have more spirit, will and determination to fulfill their "responsibility" before the Fatherland and the People.
At the meeting, authorized by the Prime Minister , Minister Nguyen Van Hung awarded the Prime Minister 's Certificate of Merit to the team and 24 individuals of the team.
On behalf of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, the Minister awarded 500 million VND for the team's achievements.
Speaking at the ceremony, Coach Kim Sang Sik expressed his honor to be present at the meeting chaired by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, and expressed his emotion when the whole team received a congratulatory letter from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh right after the final match of the Southeast Asian U23 Football Championship.
Coach Kim Sang Sik sent his thanks to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Football Federation and the fans who have always accompanied and supported the team, and thanked the players and the coaching staff for overcoming the difficult journey to achieve impressive results.

"Today's achievement will be a premise, a timely encouragement and motivation for the whole team to make more efforts, strive to complete the task at the Asian U23 Qualifiers and especially the 33rd SEA Games, held in December in Thailand," said coach Kim Sang Sik.
Speaking at the ceremony, President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan expressed his gratitude for the affection and attention of the Prime Minister, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Vietnam Sports Administration. Especially today, the whole team was honored to be present at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, directly receiving congratulations from the Minister after the journey just ended at the tournament.

President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan said that this is the third time the team has won the Championship Cup on away ground, but the special thing is that while in the previous two times, the team won the championship on away ground against neutral opponents, this time it won the championship against the home team.
Praising the players for their indomitable spirit, intelligence and bravery, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan hoped that the whole team would continue to promote their achievements to compete well in the two major tournaments this year, the Asian U23 Championship Qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games. The Vietnam Football Federation also has a thorough and scientific preparation plan for the team to prepare for the next two tournaments, with the goal at the SEA Games being to be present in the final match.

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also presented 5 Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to the team members.
