Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh inspects Rach Mieu 2 bridge project

(ABO) Rach Mieu 2 Bridge connecting Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces, thanks to its self-sufficiency in technology, design, and construction machinery and equipment, has saved about 50%, with a total investment capital of only about 6,810 billion VND.

On July 12, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh and his delegation inspected the construction of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, connecting Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces.

After listening to the investor's representative and contractors' reports on the progress and upcoming plans, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh highly appreciated the efforts of all 600 technical staff and workers working day and night on the construction site to bring the project to completion nearly half a year earlier than the original plan.

“In addition to being nearly 6 months ahead of schedule, the project is also self-sufficient in terms of technology, machinery and equipment, saving about 50% of costs. This is a very remarkable step forward. I suggest that individuals and groups who do well should be commended and rewarded. Contractors who do well at the project should be considered for future projects,” emphasized Mr. Tran Hong Minh.

Director of My Thuan Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) Tran Van Thi said that up to now, the Rach Mieu 2 bridge project has achieved overall progress of over 96.5% of the workload.

Currently, at the construction site, there are about 600 technical staff and workers divided into 30 construction teams to do the final items of the project such as installing median strips, painting road markings, installing lighting and constructing asphalt concrete for the last remaining short segments on the Dong Thap province side.

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Construction Investment Project connecting Dong Thap and Vinh Long provinces starts at Dong Tam intersection (intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Dong Thap province and ends at Km16+660 National Highway 60, about 0.71 km from the northern abutment of Ham Luong bridge in Vinh Long province. The main Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is designed as a cable-stayed bridge. The project has a total investment of VND 6,810.11 billion from the state budget.
