On September 18, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that at the invitation of Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Wang Yi will visit Moscow to hold the 18th round of the China-Russia Strategic Security Consultation (SSCC) from September 18 to 21. This is the latest in a series of high-level visits and phone calls between the two sides.

Earlier the same day, at a press conference, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov would meet with Mr. Wang Yi, and the two sides are expected to discuss focusing on strengthening cooperation in the international arena.

“There will be a detailed exchange of views on issues related to the settlement in Ukraine, as well as ways to ensure stability and security in the Asia- Pacific region,” the ministry said.

As strategic allies, Russia and China often promote an “unlimited” partnership, along with economic and military cooperation.

Since Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, the relationship between the two countries has become especially close, and Beijing has also avoided criticizing Moscow's decisions.

To date, China has always declared itself a neutral party in this conflict, while supporting Russia financially and diplomatically, as the international community is taking steps to increase isolation against Moscow.
