On the afternoon of June 26, the Provincial Party Standing Committee held the 20th Provincial Party Executive Committee Conference to evaluate the implementation of political tasks in the first 6 months of the year, set out directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025; at the same time, decide on a number of other important policies within its authority.

Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc reported on the province's socio -economic development in the first 6 months of 2025.

At the conference, the Provincial Party Executive Committee focused on evaluating the results of Party building and mass mobilization work, the socio-economic situation, national defense and security in the first 6 months of 2025; determining key directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2025. At the same time, giving opinions on important policies on reorganizing provincial agencies and units after the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces; reporting to the Executive Committee on important contents that the Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee had resolved between the 19th and 20th Provincial Party Committee Conferences and other important contents within their authority.

In the first 6 months of 2025, with the solidarity and determination of the entire political system, the dynamism and flexibility of authorities at all levels, Party building and mass mobilization work, socio-economic situation, national defense and security have changed positively in most areas.

In particular, An Giang has accelerated the streamlining of the organizational apparatus in conjunction with the arrangement of key officials and personnel in new administrative units; closely coordinated with KG province in developing merger projects at the provincial level. Up to now, the work contents have been basically completed, ready for the merger of the province and the operation of two-level local government from July 1.

Regarding the leadership of socio-economic development of the province, there have been positive changes. The economic growth rate reached 8.51%, higher than the same period in 2024 and higher than the scenario according to the target assigned by the Government. The main economic indicators maintained high growth compared to the same period last year.

Specifically, the industrial production index increased by 11.32%. Wholesale and retail sales of goods increased by 14.85%. Export turnover of goods reached over 643 million USD. Total tourism revenue reached 8,400 billion VND (87% of the yearly plan). Total budget revenue reached 4,675 billion VND.

National defense, security, social order and safety are maintained; people's lives are constantly improved and enhanced. In particular, the province has completed the emulation target of "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide".

The Provincial Party Executive Committee voted to agree on the contents presented at the conference.

The Provincial Party Executive Committee basically agreed with the report of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee and the Provincial Party Committees on the direction and tasks of Party building and mass mobilization work; leadership of socio-economic development, national defense and security in the last 6 months of 2025.

To successfully complete the set goals and tasks, An Giang Provincial Party Secretary Le Hong Quang requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, sectors and levels, especially leaders, to uphold the spirit of responsibility, dynamism, creativity and determination to successfully carry out political tasks in 2025.

Accordingly, focus on carefully reviewing, carefully preparing, and fully meeting the conditions to be ready to officially operate the provincial and communal administrative apparatus from July 1.

On leadership in socio-economic development. In particular, focusing on effectively implementing the four key resolutions of the Politburo, including: Resolution 57, Resolution 59, Resolution 66 and Resolution 68; focusing on solutions to promote economic growth, achieving growth targets (reaching 8.5% assigned by the Government, striving to achieve the province's growth target of 10%). Focusing maximum resources to complete the synchronous and modern infrastructure system, ensuring the progress of expressway projects and large urban infrastructure, digital transformation infrastructure. Urgently update and adjust the An Giang Provincial Planning after the merger according to the new viewpoints, orientations and goals of the province.

Strengthening security, social order and safety in the province, especially the events of June 30 and July 1; effectively combating plots and activities of inciting, sabotaging and distorting the policies of the Party and State; not allowing complaints or large gatherings of people to cause insecurity and disorder.

“After merging and operating the two-level government, the (new) An Giang province is expected to become a dynamic, comprehensive and sustainable development center of the Mekong Delta region, playing a strategic role in connecting East - West, sea - border, urban - rural, service - production - tourism; opening up many opportunities in the coming time, at the same time, there will be new difficulties and challenges. Therefore, it requires great efforts, solidarity and determination of the entire political system, the companionship, support and response of the people and businesses; taking advantage of opportunities, proactively overcoming all challenges” - Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Le Hong Quang emphasized.
