On July 21, a source from Tran Van Thoi General Hospital ( Ca Mau ) said that the team of doctors from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the hospital had just successfully performed a cesarean section for the mother HTTM (residing in Hamlet 9, Khanh Binh Commune, Ca Mau). The newborn baby boy weighed 5.8 kg and cried healthily right after birth.

Directly participating in the surgery, Dr. Du Kim Ngan, Deputy Head of the Obstetrics Department, said that the pregnant woman was admitted to the hospital when she was 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant, past her due date.

Through examination, the doctors determined that this was a case of a large fetus with a high risk of complications if delivered naturally, so they recommended a proactive cesarean section to ensure the safety of mother and baby.

This is Ms. M's third child. According to the hospital, the previous two births both weighed more than 3 kg, but there were no signs of exceeding the weight threshold like this time.

"With large fetuses weighing over 4.5 kg, especially nearly 6 kg like this case, the risk of obstetric complications is always present, especially when the mother has given birth many times. Proactive and timely cesarean section is the key factor to help ensure an absolutely safe birth," Dr. Ngan added.
