Along with the merger of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces, the press agencies of the two localities also officially merged into one media agency called Thai Nguyen Newspaper and Radio and Television. The merger of press agencies in Thai Nguyen province is being carried out in accordance with the spirit of the Central Resolutions and Decision No. 362/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the National Press Development and Management Plan until 2025. This is part of the overall strong, decisive but cautious steps of the Party, State and localities in restructuring administrative organizations, in which the merger of press units is an inevitable requirement and a strategic choice to adapt to the period of digital transformation, convergent journalism and multi-platform communication.

Before the merger, the press system in Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan had 6 independent press agencies including: Thai Nguyen Newspaper, Thai Nguyen Radio - Television Station, Thai Nguyen Literature and Arts Magazine, Bac Kan Newspaper, Bac Kan Radio - Television Station and Ba Be Literature and Arts Magazine; in total there were nearly 30 departments and affiliated professional units.

Each unit has its own leadership, organizational structure and facilities, so it is inevitable that there will be overlap in functions, dispersion of resources and difficulties in developing in a modern, convergent direction.

The establishment of Thai Nguyen Newspaper, Radio and Television has fundamentally resolved those shortcomings. According to the project approved by the Standing Committee of Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee, the new agency was reorganized to be streamlined with 1 Editorial Board and 12 affiliated units (11 specialized departments and 1 printing house).

At the same time, more than 200 positions and 10 contracts under Decree 111/2022/ND-CP were scientifically rearranged, based on capacity, strengths, and suitable job positions. Party organizations, Trade Unions, Youth Unions, Journalists Associations, etc. were restructured synchronously, ensuring continuous and uninterrupted operations.

What is particularly noteworthy is that the merger preparation process was conducted methodically, democratically, publicly, with high consensus among the staff. Many staff members voluntarily registered to resign or retire under the support policy; the remaining people were ready to take on new tasks, demonstrating their courage, responsibility and spirit for the common good.

The merged agency will operate on multiple platforms, in multiple languages, and in multiple types of journalism, including: print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio and television; at the same time, maintain specialized publications such as: Literature and Arts, Mountainous Regions - Highlands, programs in ethnic languages ​​(Tay, Mong, Dao...), content channels on digital platforms and social networks, in order to maintain regional cultural identity and effectively serve the information needs of the majority of people.

This connection helps to improve the efficiency of content production, shorten the process, reduce costs, and at the same time maximize the capacity of journalists, technicians, and managers.
