But according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, right after storm No. 3 (Wipha), southeast winds are still blowing into the storm's eye, so coastal areas in the northern provinces will continue to have strong winds this afternoon. People should not be subjective, pay attention to safety when traveling on coastal routes.
Mr. Hoang Van Dai, Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that the circulation after storm No. 3 (Wipha) is causing widespread heavy rain with complicated developments.
It is forecasted that this afternoon, the areas of southern Son La, southern Phu Tho, Nghe An , Thanh Hoa will be the center of the heaviest rain. Specifically, the area of southern Son La, southern Phu Tho will have rainfall ranging from 30 - 70 mm. The area of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An will have rainfall of 50 - 150 mm, with a very high risk of floods, flash floods, and landslides.
"Through flash floods and landslides that caused heavy damage to people and property during previous storms and heavy rains, people in the midlands and mountainous areas need to be especially vigilant against heavy rains. Rainfall of 100 mm will cause landslides and flash floods, which are very dangerous," Mr. Dai warned.
Risk after storm number 3: Heavy rain has not stopped, landslides still lurk
Hanoi still has heavy rain after storm number 3
Due to the influence of storm No. 3 (Wipha), Hanoi this afternoon, July 22 and tomorrow, July 23, will have moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places.
Rainfall forecast in the northern area of Hanoi is generally 30 - 50 mm, some places over 70 mm. In the central, western and southern areas of Hanoi, rainfall is generally 40 - 70 mm, some places over 100 mm.
Heavy rain from storm No. 3 (Wipha) with the above forecast rainfall will overload the urban drainage system in Hanoi, causing flooding in residential areas, traffic jams due to flooded roads and reduced visibility when driving, slippery roads, and risk of traffic accidents.
People in Hanoi need to be on guard during thunderstorms that may be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind that can break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
