According to China Daily , as of 9 a.m. on August 25, more than 102,500 people were affected after Typhoon Kajiki brought strong winds and heavy rains to Hainan Island, China.
All districts in Sanya City (Hainan) recorded wind gusts stronger than level 14. The strongest wind was recorded in Haitang District.

Typhoon Kajiki damaged roads, felled trees, and disrupted water, electricity, and communications systems in cities and counties including Sanya, Luodong, Lingshui, and Wanning. In addition, many areas were flooded and about 22 gas stations across the province stopped operating when the storm made landfall.
In Sanya alone, more than 20,000 trees were uprooted or broken, a residential area was flooded, and more than 7,000 households had their water cut off. The province’s Luodong county reported 13 villages without clean water and a hospital basement was flooded. Meanwhile, Lingshui recorded more than 20,000 fallen trees and 658 collapsed telecommunications base stations.

Recovery efforts have been rushed in Hainan. According to Xinhua, more than 10,000 soldiers, police and firefighters have been dispatched to the affected areas to assist residents, clear roads and deal with floods, etc.
Public transportation across Hainan Province is gradually resuming operations. Sanya Phoenix International Airport has resumed normal operations.
