On the afternoon of August 30, Cuba Mitchell and his Bangladesh U23 teammates arrived in Viet Tri, Phu Tho to settle down and prepare for the 2026 AFC U23 qualifiers. This is the first international team from Group C to arrive in Vietnam.
Before arriving in Vietnam, U23 Bangladesh had to take a connecting flight through Bangkok, Thailand, so the players felt a bit tired. However, that atmosphere was quickly dispelled when they received a warm welcome from Phu Tho province.
Cuba Mitchell is the most notable player in the Bangladesh U23 squad, holding British and Jamaican nationality. He was born in 2005 in Birmingham, and has played for youth teams in England such as Birmingham and Sunderland.
In April this year, Cuba was granted citizenship by the Bangladesh Football Federation to play for the country's national teams.
With a height of 1m80, Cuba Mitchell shows potential in the position of central midfielder and defensive midfielder. This is a prominent factor of U23 Bangladesh that U23 Vietnam needs to pay attention to.
U23 Bangladesh, led by coach Saiful Bari Titu, has been training since the end of July and touring Bahrain. Before coming to Vietnam, U23 Bangladesh had 2 friendly matches with U23 Bahrain and lost both matches with scores of 0-1 and 2-4.
U23 Bangladesh is the first opponent of U23 Vietnam in Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. This match will take place at 7:00 p.m. on September 3 at Viet Tri Stadium.
