Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa province: Social criticism of the Long Son Solar Power Plant Project

On the afternoon of June 24, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Khanh Hoa province held a conference to provide social feedback on the Long Son Solar Power Plant Project - Phase 2, proposed by Long Son Energy Joint Stock Company as the investor.

Long Son Solar Power Plant Project - Phase 2 is deployed in Ninh Son commune (Ninh Hoa town) with a total area of about 102.6 hectares, divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 is deployed on an area of about 78.6 hectares; of which 59.45 hectares are installed with solar panels and auxiliary equipment. Phase 2 is implemented on an area of about 24 hectares; of which more than 15 hectares are installed with panels and auxiliary equipment. The designed capacity is about 100 MW. The total investment capital of the project is expected to be about 1,700 billion VND, with completion and operation expected at the end of 2026.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and giving feedback on the project's suitability with the Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; Project to adjust the Ninh Hoa Town Master Plan to 2040; National Power Development Plan and Vietnam's renewable energy development strategy, national strategy on green growth; transport infrastructure system in the proposed project area. Delegates also gave comments on the project's objectives, location, scale, land area for solar panels and auxiliary equipment, internal traffic routes, auxiliary infrastructure; assessment of socio -economic and environmental impacts and efficiency... In addition, delegates said that it is necessary to consider compensation, support and resettlement when the State reclaims land to implement the project; social security work, job creation, job conversion, and vocational training for people whose land has been recovered.

Through the conference, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Provincial Committee will synthesize and complete social criticism documents to send to relevant agencies according to regulations.
