On the afternoon of August 18, 2025, Mr. Pham Van Thinh, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Bac Ninh province chaired the Conference to assess the situation and orientation for organizing production according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, and organic standards associated with traceability of origin of growing areas, packaging facilities, and product processing facilities for export.

According to the report of the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment at the Conference, up to now, the total fruit tree area of the province has reached about 53,900 hectares; including many fruit trees with high economic value such as: Lychee 29,889 hectares, longan 3,641 hectares, orange 2,714 hectares, grapefruit 5,467 hectares, custard apple 2,100 hectares, guava 1,023 hectares, apple 2,500 hectares, pineapple 715 hectares... Currently, the province has planned 33,400 hectares of concentrated production areas, accounting for 62% of the area; granted more than 400 growing area codes, 43 packaging facility codes for export...

In recent times, the province has issued many policies to support production, focusing on land accumulation into concentrated production areas, mechanization, application of high technology, safe production (VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic), granting codes for growing areas, packaging facility codes, linking production according to value chains, processing for export, etc. Thanks to that, the province's agricultural production has made great strides, achieving many positive results.

In addition, the province has increased the application of science and technology, expanded the area of crops grown according to safety standards, especially key crops such as lychee, longan, orange, grapefruit, apple, custard-apple, etc., creating a chain linked to traceability, bringing high income to farmers.

Discussing at the meeting, delegates said that Bac Ninh province has a lot of potential and strengths in developing valuable fruit trees. However, the concentrated production area for growing valuable fruit trees is still limited, the production area is basically fragmented, mixed with many different types of fruit trees.

On the other hand, in some localities, people are still familiar with old farming practices, abusing pesticides and inorganic fertilizers, and rarely using organic fertilizers in the farming process. Meanwhile, production costs, technical requirements and investment to meet VietGAP, GlobalGAP safety standards, and organic standards are still high; they have not attracted large enterprises to invest in planting, trading, processing, especially deep processing of agricultural products in the province.

Delegates also made a number of recommendations and solutions such as: Building software to manage codes for growing areas and packaging facilities to serve exports; providing guidance on standardizing care processes for each type of crop; continuing to negotiate to expand agricultural export markets; investing in technology, attracting potential businesses to create production links, deep processing, etc.

In order to continue orienting the organization of production and development of agricultural products to meet export requirements in the coming time, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh assigned the Department of Science and Technology to research and upgrade the traceability system, database on product traceability, ensure compatibility, update into the national traceability system and publicize on the Provincial Electronic Information Portal, helping cooperatives, farmers and traders conveniently look up information.

At the same time, research and advise the Provincial People's Committee to build an Irradiation Center in the spirit of public-private partnership, with enterprises as investors and state support, striving to complete in 2026. Thereby, improving irradiation capacity to meet international standards, reducing transportation time, and processing agricultural products for export for enterprises in the province and the Northern region.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment shall coordinate with the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection to conduct training on cultivation methods, apply science and technology, expand the area of crops produced according to safety standards; support businesses in registering products according to regulations and standards, creating favorable conditions for the export of agricultural products, especially fruits.

The Department of Industry and Trade shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology to review and re-evaluate the production and consumption of key agricultural products in the locality; advise the Provincial People's Committee on building industrial zones and clusters for processing agricultural and forestry products; and have appropriate support policies and mechanisms for cooperatives and enterprises investing in agricultural product processing machinery.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh also requested the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection to continue to coordinate and support Bac Ninh province in transferring science and technology in production that meets VietGAP and GlobalGAP safety standards; support training for businesses and cooperatives in building international certifications and developing regulations on food safety for exported fruits.
