Many surprising and interesting results
Compared to the previous season, the tennis events at the "Ho Chi Minh City Open Sports Festival for Journalists 2025" were shortened from 5 to 4 (combining the men's doubles events for press leaders and over 45 years old). Although one category was removed, the spirit of the tournament did not decrease as more than 90 players competed fiercely and enthusiastically at Hoang Thien Club.
More than 80 players participated in 4 events in 2 days of tennis competition.

"I feel that this year's tournament is very good and attractive, right on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, so everyone is motivated and excited to compete with great enthusiasm, bringing many interesting results", emphasized journalist Duong Vu Thong, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, Head of the Organizing Committee . Meanwhile, tennis player Huynh Kim Huy of Thanh Nien Newspaper excitedly said: "The competition results are not too important. Just being able to immerse yourself in an interesting playground during the Tet holiday for journalists, being able to exercise and strengthen solidarity with colleagues is also the best way to improve health and develop yourself well".

Right from the first matches, the atmosphere of the annual playground for press players was very "hot". The knockout play-off format was applied, increasing the survival factor, so each match between players from 18 press agencies and 9 partners was as exciting and fierce as the finals. All the players together brought many exciting moments, competing and chasing dramatically. There were some exciting comeback matches, leading 5-2 or 5-3 but still losing regrettably. This shows that just a moment of lack of concentration or a split second of mistake can cost a lot. Some players had to sadly stop playing when the opportunity was very close.
New Champions Emerge
There were many matches that ended with a close score of 6/5. Many interesting surprises occurred when 3/4 of the championship titles changed hands spectacularly. Except for the only pair of the Lao Dong Newspaper, Do Van Truong and Nguyen Phi Long, who still defended their achievements in the men's doubles of the business press, the remaining 3 championship titles were named new winners. They were all athletes who showed good ability and great determination. But as former General Secretary of the Vietnam Tennis Federation Doan Thanh Tung said, when the level and quality of the tournament are greatly improved, and the matches are so balanced, sometimes luck also plays a decisive role.

In fact, the SCTV couple Tran Ngoc Linh and Nguyen Thanh Dong impressively won the men's doubles tournament for press leaders and over 45 years old. With their evenness and smooth coordination, they successively overcame experienced couples such as Doan Thanh Tung - Thai Tuan Kieu or Vuong Quyen - Do Van Luy in the semi-finals and Le Thanh Dat (VOH) - Mai Thanh Chung (Becamex Binh Duong ) in the finals, officially usurping the championship title of Nguyen Hung - Do Van Luy last year.
Or the pair Nguyen Huy Hoang (VOV) - Duong Thanh Ba (Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association) who were familiar faces in many previous tournaments, had to spend a long time together to find their strong motivation again. Both devoted themselves with strong playing style to finally win the noble trophy in the under 45 category.
