Việt NamViệt Nam08/12/2023

On December 8, Yen Mo District People's Committee held a conference to summarize the 2023 Winter-Spring crop production and deploy plans and solutions for the 2024 Winter-Spring crop production.

In the 2023 Winter-Spring crop, thanks to relatively favorable weather conditions along with close direction from Party committees and authorities at all levels and the efforts of farmers, production has achieved many positive results.

The whole district planted 7,266 hectares, of which the rice growing area was nearly 6,400 hectares, with an average yield of 67.65 quintals/ha (an increase of 0.09 quintals/ha). The highlight of this crop is that the units have transformed the variety structure in the direction of reducing the hybrid rice area, increasing the area of high-quality rice and glutinous rice; at the same time, increasing the application of transplanting machines in production and producing rice in an organic direction, the whole district has about 100 hectares of rice produced in an organic direction, transplanted by machine. The average production value per hectare of rice cultivation reached 54.7 million VND (an increase of 0.2 million VND/ha compared to the Winter-Spring crop in 2022).

For color crops, the total planting area is 875 hectares, mainly peanuts, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, tobacco, and various vegetables. In general, the productivity of all crops has increased compared to the same period, many crops have high economic value such as: potatoes 92.3 million VND/ha, sweet corn 71.4 million VND/ha, vegetables 126 million VND/ha. On color land, some localities such as Yen Thai and Yen Lam communes... have flexibly grown 2 crops, contributing to increasing the production value per 1 hectare of cultivation.

The 2024 Winter-Spring crop is forecast to face many difficulties due to unpredictable weather conditions, and agricultural labor continues to shift to other occupations. However, Yen Mo district still aims to maintain the area and productivity, ensure economic efficiency, food security, and timing for the production of the Summer-Spring and Winter crops. At the same time, efforts are being made to convert the sowing method to rice planting; produce rice and vegetables in an organic direction; expand the area of greenhouses, net houses, and the area of cultivation of 4 crops/year to improve production efficiency. Specific targets: rice growing area of 6,377 hectares, yield of 67 quintals/hectare; the area of other vegetable crops is nearly 850 hectares.

At the conference, delegates discussed and shared experiences in production management; discussed solutions to ensure land preparation and water collection progress for a successful production season.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the 2023 Winter-Spring crop production were commended by the District People's Committee.
