TPO - Affected by storm No. 3 ( Yagi ), the core forest areas of Cat Ba National Park in Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city suffered heavy damage. The entire forest had tens of thousands of trees broken in half, branches and leaves stripped away, leaving only the wooden trunks. Currently, some areas of the forest have begun to recover their green color.

More than a month after storm No. 3, the forests in Cat Ba National Park have begun to sprout green again. However, large trees that have fallen and branches stripped by the storm still show unhealed wounds.

Ang Rang area located on the EnvironmentalEducation - Ecotourism route of the core zone of Cat Ba National Park is one of the areas most severely damaged in terms of landscape, ecology and environment.

In the Ang Rang area, thousands of trees were broken in half, their branches and leaves were stripped by the storm, leaving only large wooden trunks. Many trees fell down, their roots were uprooted, blocking the trail. This is a route through the National Park, very attractive to domestic and international tourists who love checking through the forest.

A representative of Cat Ba National Park said that since the storm, the rangers have been on duty, patrolling 24/7 to count and count the damage. In the immediate future, the rangers will use saws to cut down trees blocking the forest trail to clear a path for patrolling, preventing forest fires during the dry season, and restoring tourism and sightseeing activities.

More than a month after storm number 3, large trees with broken trunks are still covered with "wounds".

According to the Cat Ba National Park rangers, many precious trees and large trees that are decades old have fallen, causing great damage to the natural landscape. Regarding vegetation, it will take about 6 months to 1 year for the forest to restore its green color, but it will take 3-5 years or longer for large trees to recover.

After the storm, the branches and leaves of the forest trees fell down and dried up, creating a high risk of forest fires. Therefore, Cat Ba National Park mobilized all forest rangers to patrol and strictly control forest roads to prevent all sources of fire to protect the forest and the environment of the national park.

Also according to Tien Phong reporter , in early October, Cat Ba welcomed tourists back, especially starting the peak of the Fall - Winter tourist season to welcome international visitors to the National Park, to visit, relax, and watch the bay on the sea.

In addition to the core areas, many buffer zones of Cat Ba National Park were also devastated by fallen trees after the storm.

Some forests are left with only grass and soft-stemmed plants. A representative of Cat Ba National Park said that the unit is coordinating with relevant organizations and units to organize propaganda and training on forest fire prevention and fighting, restoring the natural landscape, and protecting the national park's environment after storm No. 3.
