On June 14, TASS news agency (Russia) reported that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko revealed that Russia's tactical nuclear weapons located in this country are three times more powerful than the atomic bombs that the US dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Speaking on Rossiya-1 television channel, President Lukashenko said: “We have missiles and bombs. One bomb will be three times more powerful than (those dropped on) Hiroshima and Nagasaki.”

Previously, on June 13, according to Mr. Lukashenko, the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus will act as a deterrent against the risk of attack from rival countries and Moscow "should not hesitate to use this weapon if necessary".

On March 25 this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that, at Minsk's request, Moscow would deploy its tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, similar to what the United States has long done on the territory of its allies.

Accordingly, Russia has provided Belarus with Iskander tactical missile systems capable of carrying nuclear weapons, and helped Minsk re-equip aircraft to transport specialized weapons.

In addition, the crews and pilots using the missiles had all completed training in Russia beforehand.

During talks with his Belarusian counterpart Lukashenko in Russia on June 9, President Putin affirmed that Moscow will immediately deploy tactical nuclear weapons to Minsk after the facilities to store these weapons are ready on July 7-8.
